Checklists can serve as a window to the biodiversity of a specified locality, and an input to the distribution of a particular species. However, readers are advised to exercise critical thinking in using the information.
First, the accuracy of species identification work is uneven. In some checklists, species may be misidentified, but the published names are unverifiable.
Second, no checklist can claim to be “complete”, as all have a limited “shelf-life” and will need constant updating, even in countries where spiders have been thoroughly studied by experts.
