Fifth Latin-American Congress of Arachnology

Dear fellow Arachnologists,

At the end of this year, the V Latin American Congress of Arachnology (CLAA) will be held, based in the city of Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Since the first meeting of the Southern Cone Arachnologists Meeting held in Uruguay in 1997, 20 years have passed. During this period, Arachnology in Central America and especially in South America grew, integrated and gained worldwide projection. In V CLAA, we intend to remember and honor the contribution of the meetings and congresses of arachnology, highlighting the researchers who have been trained in the last two decades. Therefore, many of our invited speakers are young people who belong to the second or third generation of Latin American arachnologists graduated since 1997. The quality of these speakers illustrates the academic development that has taken place in the region and makes us believe that we will still see the emergence of many other in the near future.
